Trakt Privacy Policy

Trakt is a fitness and nutrition tracking app. This page explains what data Trakt collects, where it's stored, and who it's shared with.

What we collect

• Profile info — age, sex, height, weight, activity level, and goals, entered during onboarding. Used to calculate your calorie and macro targets.
• Training data — workout sessions, exercises, sets, reps, and weights you log.
• Nutrition data — foods you log, including data pulled from food-database searches.
• Body weight log — weigh-ins you enter.
• Apple Health data (optional) — steps and sleep, read-only, only if you turn this on in Settings. Used to adjust your daily targets; never written back to Health.
• Apple ID identifier — if you sign in with Apple, we store the opaque identifier Apple provides, not your real name or email unless you choose to share it.

Where it's stored

Your training, nutrition, and profile data is stored in your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database — the same private storage Apple uses for apps like Notes and Health. Trakt's developer cannot read, access, or export this data; it lives entirely under your Apple ID.

Third-party services we use

• USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts — public nutrition databases. Search queries (e.g. "chicken breast") are sent to look up food data; no personal or account information is sent.
• FatSecret — another food database, accessed through Trakt's own backend proxy so FatSecret never sees your device directly. Search queries only, no personal data.
• PostHog — basic product analytics (e.g. "onboarding finished," "Progress tab viewed") to understand which features are used. No personally identifying information is sent, and this data is never used for advertising.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.

Referral invite codes

If you use Trakt's referral feature, a random invite code is generated on your device — it isn't tied to your name, email, or Apple ID. Redemption status (whether a code has been used) is stored temporarily on Trakt's backend solely to unlock the referral feature.

Deleting your data

Since your data lives in your own iCloud account, deleting the app removes Trakt's access to it. To fully remove Trakt's data from iCloud, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your iPhone, find Trakt, and delete its data. You can also contact us below and we'll help.

Children

Trakt is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
